Abstract

In today's world, video games are not only considered as tools for entertainment, but also play a role beyond that in the economic, cultural and social arenas. These new human achievements, like any other phenomenon, have positive and negative consequences, which is an undeniable necessity to analysis and study these different dimensions. In recent years, this industry has been criticized by researchers, parents and legislators. The question that arises is what legal measures can be taken to deal with the negative consequences of video games?. The purpose of this research is to identify and study "preventive legal measures" that can be used to organize the negative consequences of video games. This research is practical and has been written with analytical-descriptive method and using library resources. The results indicate that all measures taken by governments can be divided into three general categories; measures aimed at: 1) Not creating a disadvantageous situation 2) Restricting the access of players 3) Counseling and guiding the players. Accordingly, in order to apply measures one and two, different regulations have been established on a case basis. Since these measures were used on a case basis and not as a collection, they have not been as efficient and useful as expected; Therefore, the existing regulations are not enough to solve the challenges and deal with the negative consequences of disadvantageous video games, and it is necessary to enactment a comprehensive law that includes all the different legal measures in the form of a single collection.
